Back again

Apologies that the blog was down in the last week or so, back up and running now, but had to re-write posts... of course my attack at Facebook was the first thing to return!
Cheers,

Facebook

One of the first questions new friends ask me is "Are you on Facebook?" It's been the fastest growing, latest craze in the past year or so, leaving myspace for dead. I used to be on it but found it made friendship too convenient and easy. It took the effort out of relationship and makes people lazy. Where friends would usually call and say hi, or (here's something outrageous) meet up face to face, on Facebook, this would be subsituted with a poke or throwing a teddy bear at me!

I looked at a friend's Facebook page recently and found some of the content they've added since I left nothing less than insulting. For example, "dateability"... ie how dateable are you surveys. You would never say this sort of thing to someone's face and to say that it's "just for fun" isn't good enough in my opinion. You never know where a person is at emotionally and this sort of rubbish can't help.

When I ask people why they bother with Facebook most reply that it's a good way of staying in touch with people you wouldn't otherwise do so with. You may be able to stay in touch with more people but what sort of quality is this communication? True friends are worth more.
